The original Malvern chair is at The Argory, County Armagh. The House was built in the 1820's and the furniture was contemporary with later additions such as the Malvern which dates from the 1860 - 1870 period. A hand sprung seat supports a feather and down cushion whilst the back is hair stuffed with a lumbar support which gives superb comfort. The legs are hand turned from solid mahogany with brass and china wheels available in a bright or antique finish to choice. The outsides of the chair, in true Greengate tradition, are hand closed with invisible 'slip stitching' to provide the best possible and most authentic finish to this piece. |
